This was possibly a TV movie from the 70’s, about a young couple who move into a house where the wife starts seeing little creatures that hide when the husband comes home. The main scene that I remember is when the creatures string a wire across the stairs in an attempt to kill the wife, and she gets a rope burn on her palm when she tries to pull the wire away from them. I recall that the wife dies in the end, though I’m not sure how. I must have been young when I saw this, as it really creeped me out. Haven’t seen it since then.

Yes-that’s it! Thanks again, farcry. I read some of the reviews on IMDb, and was relieved to see that I wasn’t the only little kid scared by this movie. Sharing the same name as the victim really sent home the chills.
