hello everyone and thanks to anyone reviewing my question, so I’m looking for an animated sci-fi movie from the late 1970s – 80s. the movie art resembles “fire and ice” but had more gore (it’s not heavy metal or wizards)it kinda resembled Frank Frazetta’s art style. I cannot remember the plot but remember that the main character is a space bandit of sorts and if I am not mistaken at the beginning of the movie he was a slave in some space empire.
If anyone can help I would be very thankful!
I’ll give it a go… I’m not too familar with anime, but it just might be Galaxy Express 999 (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185066/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0) There are a couple of them, and I do remember there were space pirates in one of them. From what you’ve described, this film has all of that. The first time I saw it, I was quite literally blown away. I never knew that “cartoons” could be so violent, gritty, and yet so emotionally compelling. This was the first proper anime film that I had ever seen of this nature (back in 1998).
