I’m looking for an old fantasy movie

Hey there! I’ve been searching for a long time now and can’t find the movie title im looking for. I’ve seen it as a child, probably between 1999 and 2004.
If i recall correctly, the movie starts off in a small village where a wizard takes care of a somewhat cursed child, he brings him to a wizarding school. I think the boy was somewhat special and powerful, anyway, the last thing i remember is that he ressurects someone or calls upon a banshee? Not quite sure. I hope this is enough information.
