I’ve been trying to trace a couple of CivilWar Westerns which I saw in the early 1960s but are probably older.
The First involved a Confederate unit trying to seize a Union gold shipment. A Union force is sent after them, but both parties find themselves in difficulties with hostile Indians. The Rebs are wiped out, and on arriving the Union commander orders their flag to be raised and saluted – rather to the surprise of a subordinate.
The other is told as a flashback. It opened with a Seminole Indian about to be lynched by a Southern mob. However, a Confederate veteran turns up and explains that thus man performed war service for the South. The last scene before the flashback ends involves a letter from Jefferson Davis, offering the Indians a State of their own instead of a reservation.
Do these ring a bell with anyone?
The first one maybe “Incident at Phantom Hill” (1966)?:

Quotes from an IMDb review:
“This film takes place within the closing weeks of the Civil War with a Union convoy carrying approximately $1 million in gold in West Texas. Suddenly, without warning the convoy is ambushed by Confederate forces and the wagon carrying the gold is seized.”
“the specific part of West Texas where the gold is hidden now belongs to the Comanche–who guard the territory very aggressively.”
