Old movie with a hayride/camp and a drowning death at a water wheel maybe?

I once watched a movie where this couple was taking a group of kids to a camp or something. They stopped at a house along the way and recruited a few more kids. At the camp, one of those newly recruited kids drown when they got trapped under a water wheel or something like that.

I think the movie was probably 50s or 60s in color.
