Need to find the name of the movie asap

I dont remember a lot about the movie. All I remember is that there was a male teenage boy who found an alien/high tech drone/or something like that somewhere and he could somehow use it to become really strong. In the end he fought some dude using it. I think the thing was shining really bright.

I think he lost his father, still went to school, some girl was involved and some people where looking for the thing
