Movie about a girl who journals

I believe this movie came out in the 90’s. From what I can remember there is a young teenage girl who likes to journal, and her family goes on a lake trip. She writes about her family a lot.

In my mind, I thought the actress was a young Gaby Hoffman, but I don’t see anything that I recognize in her IMDB page.

I think this movie came on Disney channel or maybe TBS at one point in time.

Please help me solve this mystery as I cannot stop thinking about this one scene of her journaling near the lake.
