Film based on a book

An English movie made in the 2000s based off a book. It was about a boy who’s sister is sick. He is visited by some angel or monster that he finds in his shed of a new house they moved into.

The angel saves his sick sister by the end of the movie but the angel is like a black shrouded monster/old man.

Can’t remember much else. Based on a novel and released years ago
