Brain hurts from all the searching for the title. Need help

I’ve been racking my brain all morning and still can’t remember this title. It’s about kickball or football some kinda sport. They play this game in a city that’s actually a living flower. Some kid finds out he has powers to play the sport and some evil dude breaks out of his cell underground to rain hellfire on the planet but gets tossed into the sun or something. Not sure if it’s a movie or show. Any help?
