A forgein language movie (i believe French?) I only remember snippets

I remember snippets but I think enough for someone to recognize.
Foreign language (I think French), A widow husband reads stories to elderly sometimes romantic/erotic novels. He lives with his two kids and his unemployed brother in a city appartment. Brother has very strong political opinion. The widow meets a woman, she plays violin, sees a concert in a beautiful old “cave” sort of location. At some point they all go on a small weekend vacation with the whole family in a big country house, something goes wrong?
I remember a walk along the water through the city is something repeating in the movie, this is where he reads a story to an eldery women.
