Seen the trailer of this film on a film discussion tv show. That was around 2008-20012. Basically it was an Asian movie with Asian actors. Not sure if it was Korean, Chinese, or Japanese. The plot was something like “A man who raises a girl (I think she was not his daughter, but like adopted) but then get’s into prison. When he gets back after serving his sentence, the girl has grown up and the get into a love relationship”. I think this was a drama, also probably on some festivals too. Looked and googles everywhere, but can not find it. Please help.
VHS_Lives is probably correct. My ex-girlfriend, to my horror, showed me what would have been the remake of the film you’re after, that came out in the 2010’s. Spike Lee directed it (the remake). It was based off a 2003 South Korean film of the same name. It was an unsettling movie throughout, then it was revealed that the main character was tricked into having sex with his own long lost daughter, I almost passed out.
This sounds like the original Oldboy film from asia. There also was an american remake.
