Trip turned out to all be a dream on the airplane

I think the movie was from the late 70s or early 80s. Young guy on an airplane heading to California (I think). Clearly an inexperienced traveler. Ended up having typical fun and adventures and it turned out he dreamt it all on the airplane. I thought the movie was “California Dreaming”, but I just watched it and that was definitely not the movie I’m thinking of.
