Hello everyone.
I am looking for the name of a movie where trees become alive and fight humans. I still have this one scene in my mind where the humans have fled out of a big town and the trees are walking on a freeway towards the next town or something.
Thanks in advance for your answers, this is driving me crazy not to remember the movie title.
Might it have been one of the adaptations of Day of the Triffids? I think there have been three versions of John Wyndham’s science fiction novel: a decent British feature film from 1963, an extremely fine BBC TV mini-series from 1981 that was the most faithful to the novel, and a 1991 TV mini-series that I have never seen. The creatures in this story aren’t walking trees, however, but large carnivorous plants that can walk about. Most of humanity become blind after watching an historic meteor shower, making them easy prey for the slow-moving plants. But for various reasons, a small number of people didn’t watch the meteor shower and are not blind. The novel/films focus on a few of the sighted who band together to help some of the blind. Some of the sighted are taken prisoner by groups of blind thugs who use them like human seeing eye dogs. It is a pretty dark story. The movie frightened the heck out of me when I saw it on the creature feature as a child.
You can watch the 1963 film on youtube. I think the movie is in the public domain and easy to find on home video. The other versions will be harder to track down, though I think they are available on DVD.
