1929 or 30 black and white talkie – What’s the title?

Hi, I’m looking for a very early talkie about two young women who move to the city to make it on their own – it’s comedic.

One has a boyfriend with a slim moustache and slicked back hair who’s nickname for her is “Chicken.” He keeps saying “Aaaaw Chicken!” — looks like a young Cesar Romero.

I could have sworn it was called ‘New York Story.’
