ID question

I’m trying to ID a movie which I saw in the last 90’s (1998 or 99). The plot was pretty simple a guy and a girl are driving through the desert having done something bad, they possibly have body in the trunk. They come across a remote gas station (iirc) in the middle of nowhere and eventually those in pursuit catch them up.

Throughout most of the movie I only recall the two in the car and maybe one other person at the gas station. They end up sticking around for sometime at the station (days or weeks). at some point a body is in the trunk of the car.

I have the words ‘Texas’ and ‘Scorpion’ but I can’t remember if these words are in the title.

Vague I know but can anyone help me ID this movie.
