Boy who has nightmare about a load of fish?

I remember watching this as a kid, so maybe late 1988-1995? all remember is it centres around a boy between 10-15 i think. I believe he was trying to deal with either a parent death or break-up. The only images i have are of him on a bicycle and lying in his bed, having a dream/nightmare about lots of fish…like they are being dropped into a ship’s hold or something. I can’t recall if he was allergic or just hated them for some reason. I think he was in the attic room or at least in a fairly old house. Random references i know, but never had any luck identifying this!
