Colour horror movie, character falls from balcony onto black and white chequered floor

Pretty sure it’s a horror movie. I’d guess 1960s or 70s. In one scene a character falls over a banister onto the black and white chequered floor below.

I’ve been trying to find this for ages, so any help would be great.
