Everytime I Google the basis of the film, it gives me Madeline, which sounds similar at first glance but outside the time period. I believe it’s based in the Middle east but possibly Mediterranean area like Greece/Italy. Time period is set anywhere from 40’s to 60’s… The main character is a girl in age from 10 to 12, possibly orphaned. She is a bit mischievous. She meets a local boy who at first she is at odds with but later befriends. I remember a scene where both or one of them is running from someone, they end up on the roof of the building outside her window. They have a conversation about street smarts. And one of them (likely the girl) takes out a face powder compact and shows the other to blow powder in the face of the pursuer. At one point, I believe someone helps them hide, possibly from a corrupt constable/policeman. While they are hiding they try and change clothes to change appearance I believe. Later on again, they use the powder trick to actually escape. Eventually it’s a happy ending and the film ends with a nun or teacher yelling at the little girl to come down as she is walking along the top of an old brickwall…
It doesn’t appear to be, based off the trailer… It seems to revolve more around her getting in trouble and running around with the local boy. It also appears to be older than a 90’s film…
