Very Loosely Related to Mulan Animation – 90s

Hello!

I am trying to remember a movie I watched as a kid in the 90s. It wasn’t a Disney animation. It was very loosely connected to Mulan (I think). The main character was a heroine on a quest. She was on top of a mountain at one point and there was a large bird there that could communicate only with nodding or shaking its head. This is, sadly, the only thing I remember. I would appreciate help!
