I saw a movie on Filmstruck, MUBI, or Kanopy sometime between 2015 and 2018 that I can’t remember the name of. It was an Eastern European film about building a factory in an agrarian village. The movie is mostly about navigating the party politics. It was shot in black and white, and I want to say it was from the 50s or 60s. The director was a former documentarian and this was his first fictional film. The shot from the film that has stuck with me is the final shot as credits roll, the protagonist sitting on the floor playing with his grandchild. In my memory it’s shot through a doorway, as if you’re outside the room looking in on a private moment.
Any help locating this title would be appreciated!
