1980’s film about world war 1 and a british officer who converted to Islam

A video rented in maybe 1989 featured a “mystery” of a British captain buried outside of a cemetery. He was a casualty of WWI, and eventually the mystery is solved. There was a trench poet kind of feel to the film. Anyone know the title? Thanks.
