There is a scene where a teenage girl is dancing on the beach, wearing an old time wool bathing suit, watching from afar, a group of her peers dancing to ukulele music, and her father thinks it is scandalous behavior.
*She was envious because they had the new ‘shorter hair’…later on, the girl cuts her own hair and buys silky underwear.
Her father chaperones her to a school dance and all her friends *(One of her friends is from Georgia & smells pretty..flirting with the father) dance with him
(I think they are doing the black bottom?). She is humiliated but one of her classmates tells her that if HE ever has a daughter, he will be acting
just like her dad. I think towards the end, the father goes off to europe to give a speech and ends up dying.
