i dont remember much of this film so this description might be vague but from what i remember this man passes away and as a result his wife returns back home to her family. they live in a very big house, sort of like a castle. however she has to hide away her kids (a set of twins and a daughter and son) because her father doesn’t know they exist and never liked his daughter’s husband. she had to hide the kids because shes afraid her father will kick her out otherwise. meanwhile the kids are locked up in this weird attic and have nothing to do. one day the mother decides to poison the kids, one of the twins dies. now this is where my memory gets fuzzy but the eldest son and daughter fell in love and decided to flee this house with the remaining twin and went out to live a new life.
